I recently got denied for an AMEX BCP because of a low TU score of 682. I had a baddie on my CBR and 0% util on my CC (I forgot I had the 0%util when I apped). The baddie was a car repossesion that was settled for less than the full amount and has now been removed from all three CRAs (still need to check to make sure). I will show a util of about 8 or 9% after my CC statement closes on the 20th. So I will be ready to app again whenever I would like.
I currently have an Auto (Harley) loan, a personal loan through my CU, and a Target VISA CC with a $5900 CL. I should now have zero late payments. I have an AAoA of about 7 years. I have 8 accounts showing on my CBR. I rent so I don't have a mortgage. I make about 49000 a year.
I REALLY want the AMEX BCP for the rewards. Should I apply again this soon? Will AMEX even let me and if they won't then how long do I have to wait?
The alternative is I want a low APR CC and I can get one with a 9.9% fixed APR through my CU.
Should I try for the AMEX BCP again or should I get the low APR CU card and wait about 6 months before applying for the AMEX?
They checked TU and EX, according to their reason for denial website. I live in TX. I haven't looked at the pulls on my CBRs yet to verify.
Hmmm... I would not have thought they would do a recon where they retract the previous inq and pull the new one.
How much time do I have to recon? I would like to wait until my next Target VISA statement closes and more than 0 util on my CBR. That should raise my score another few points and make it even more likely for me to get the card and a better CL.
they check TU? what state do you live in? Do they pull EX too?
if all baddies fall off from all your report, you should try recon. They will withdraw previous INQ and pull the new report.
What is RECON?
Recon= Reconsideration
I called them back for a RECON and they gave me thirty days from today to fax an updated TU credit report. They said to get it from TU so I'll use my free pull from being declined. I'm going to wait until after the 1st to request it. That way it'll have my utilization around 8% instead of $0.
So, I submitted my updated credit report and waited a few days. I just looked online again at the application status and it says I'm APPROVED!!!! I'm so happy. Wooo Hoooooo!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to get the card in the mail. I wonder what the credit limit is? Is that something they put in the mail with the card or do I need to call them about it?
Congratulation!
