This here is an interesting piece of data. If you requested $60k both times and first were countered with $49.5k and then 6 months later were countered with $55k, it means that your "ceiling" in 6 months went up another $5500. Assuming most of your variables didn't change during that 6 month span such as your spend/payment patterns, income, etc. we can deduce that the only real change would have been the passing of time, that is, 6 more months with Amex on that account.
