I don't know if that spells a bad omen and if so, how can I make amex think I'm a responsible person who doesn't carry balances. Hopefully I'm never targetted for an offer like this. What factors would Amex think that I deserve that offer?
You are kidding, right?
Op:
You have a thin, young, credit file... and your offended that you got a BT offer?
Actually it shows absolutely nothing... Its marketing...
Credit is more than a score. its also income related...
You might have a great score. but you don't currently have substance and aging of your CR... low AAoA and such...
That said..
The fact they are offering you BT offers means they think your a good risk.. and that they want to make money off you.. esp because you do PIF....
Chasing bonuses with a young thin file is not the same as someone who has a thicker file and some aging on their accounts...
Think you should revisit your priorities and not be so easily offended when your given an offer.. You dont have a strong CR.
And if you feel the need and appropriateness to clawback donations to charities and organizations you have other issues that are more pressing to address as well....
You are putting the pieces in place for a strong, thick, CR but its not there yet.. needs to marinate and set....
Credit is not a sprint, but a marathon...
If OP is offended by that I can't imagine the reaction when he/she receives a Credit One or First Premier mailer at 29.99%

Yeah im in concurrence with everyone so far, this is no way insulting. Looks like a normal bt offer.Just getting a bt offer is sometimes good in that some people cant seem to get them. You pay in full , thats great , but you never know when you may want to move a balance for a few months .
+1

At any rate, they're trying to get your money. Feel good about that rather than feeling insulted.
My current card.

Think of my disappointment when I realized my card was not delivered by the company CEO riding a white stallion. Instead it was delivered in the same white envelope offered to everyone else.
Did you have anything negative on your report, derogs or too many inqs? The CEO/white stallion is reserved for those with REALLY clean reports, but there must be something wrong for you not to get it delivered byat least an assistant vice president on a brown donkey.
