LOL.

Personally, I like seeing/hearing that I have been approved. Getting the card is also nice, but the "rush" of filling out the application and getting the results is kind of addicting.

I always look at my new cards for about a week before I begin using them...and I get a little sad when it gets swiped and it gets those "marks"...lol

I call and request new cards once a year... tell 'em the magnetic strip is worn down (which is mostly true) and they send me a new card.

Smiley Very Happy They should!

Re: Why is it so hard to refrain?

because its human nature to want what you can't/ don't have.

its like a new toy once you get it your good for a few hours/ days and then you never touch it again.

Re: Why is it so hard to refrain?

I apped 237 times on friday... I got approved for 137!!! WoooTTTT... not bad oddss...now I can garden for a few weeks and try the other 100 over again!!!

just kidding of course.. but that is how I feel sometimes...

I did app on Fri for two Amex cards (Hilton and Blue) and another cit card. Got all three.. now I REALLY dont need anymore cards...

I then said goodbye to 4 sub prime cards my wife and I had.. I was hanging on for aging purposes.

Re: Why is it so hard to refrain?

I had only applied for three cards in the previous two years. One was a SP, the other two a HP. I only got approved for one, while the other two I got denied due to my UTIL.
Once I became active here, the itch to app has never been higher. I am resisting as hard as I can to app for the two cards I want next. (Walmart and Chase Disney).

Re: Why is it so hard to refrain?

That itch is something powerful.  I'm holding off until I go pick up my new car, then I'm coming home and going after my 3 top cards on my wish list, then I'm going to chill for about 6-8 months.  I think my itch is really strong because I'm just now in a decent range and I haven't gotten a really "good" card yet.  Like a bank card with more than 1k.  Once I get that, I'll feel better and will probably be able to relax.

Re: Why is it so hard to refrain?

Applying and getting approved was a high for a while. Almost better than pulling the lever of the one armed bandit. Truth is too many cards or inquires looks bad on your credit report. I stopped being a regular on the boards for a while and the thrill is gone. In the long run too many cards is spending temptation for many and debt sucks.
