Hello everyone,
Recently my good friend of many years needs some financial assitance. Long story short, he needs to put his honeymoon on my Amex Plat and will pay me back in a couple of months. I do trust him (best man in his wedding, etc) and understand/am prepared for if things go south but was wondering if AMEX will put me in a financial review or give me any grief seeing as it is technically not my own expense. I think he'll be booking through a travel site or directly with the resort. I know I've read AMEX putting people in an FR or imposing spend limits on their cards because people used to pay their relatives, etc via paypal and the like. I know this is slightly different but wanted to check in....
Take Care
Why not just make him an AU for a few months? If he is using your card, he'd need to put in your billing details when using the card anyway so there's no difference in you making the charges or him. Again, I think the AU route is better and you may even want to check to see if your Amex Offers has a MR bonus for adding an AU.

This. Might as well take advantage and if added as an AU there's less gray area so to speak when he makes charges on the account since he is authorized to make those charges on the account.
If the OP adds them as an Authorized User and has a Centurian account what happens if his friend charges a 100 million dollar painting on the card then re-sells the painting and buys his own private island?

Then that complete trust mentioned in the OP goes bye bye.
Just to add to the already great suggestions here...if you do decide to go the AU route it would be in your best interest to contact Amex to let them know of upcoming charges and that your AU will be traveling. Having an AU charge large transaction right out of the gate is something that may cause an unwanted hiccup. I've learned that communication is key with Amex...the more they know (especially if this charge is outside your normal account spending) the better. Best of luck to you!

I have not added any AUs to any of my Amex cards, so I can't speak from experience, but I have heard that primary Amex cardholders can set special limits on AU cards.
