Will Walmart store card upgrade to Walmart Discover?

I was recently approved for the Walmart store card with a $700 limit. Will the automatically upgrade my card to Walmart Discover in the future?

They have occasionally done this, but not consistently. I think they send a postcard offering an upgrade.

My understanding is you have to apply again for the Discover... there seems to be confusion beyond that by CSR rather you could end up with a second walmart card or if they will just deny you.

My mom tried to upgrade her Chevron card to the visa and ended up with a second chevron card!

side note:  Walmart Discover is not a good card for revolving...
