Last month, I opened up a BCE and now I am looking at possibly getting an additional AMEX card (either a charge or another revolver). I am unsure as to whether or not to get one because I am mainly worried that this may concern AMEX that I am trying to open up too many accounts with them in a short period of time.
I am also concerned as to whether or not it will affect the potential 3x CLI that I could get after having the BCE open for 61 days. If it does...is it only affected if I open up another a revolver or is it affected from both revolver and charge. Has anyone had success in opening up an AMEX and then opening up another one a short time after and still getting the famous 61 day CLI on the first account?
Finally, does AMEX like you to have multiple accounts? Anybody with multiple AMEX accounts please chime in...
I got my AmEx Gold Delta and BCP one week apart and still received the full 3x cli at 61 days on the Gold Delta. I don't think you'll have an issue if you choose to move forward. You can only get the 3x cli on one card every 6 months after the initial 61 days cli.
Amex has no issues with multiple accounts. I have two revolvers and two charge cards. I did not open mine so close together, and personally, I would probably wait until after getting the CLI to open the second one, but there are plenty of people who report opening them in fairly quick succession and having no issues.
Six accounts total, 2 charge (personal and business) and 4 revolvers (2 each personal and revolver) all in the last 9 months. Latest personal revolver last week with 15 HP on EX.
So yeah, pay on time, PIF and app away.

Okay...that is good to know. I am thinking about getting the Gold Delta card or a Green Card. Nothing else looks too appealing and the stuff that is really good has a high annual fee, so...no thanks. I was mainly looking for another card to earn miles in hopes that I can use that towards going somewhere nice one day. However, I was also looking at a charge card to branch out a little bit. I used to be a big no-go on charge cards and was a revolvers kind of guy all the way...but now, I am trying to keep an open mind.
Do the points on the Gold Delta Skymiles card expire after a certain time period?
No, Skymiles do not expire. Redemption rate sucks but the shelf life is second to none
