I set up a payment to process this past Friday. I figured that given the time I set it up it probably wouldn't draft that day but at least I knew when it did post it would be dated for that day ;-)
I checked yesterday and the pmt hadn't posted to my It account yet (fine, I understand weekends are not business days).
I just checked this morning and the payment has posted to my Discover It card.
I checked online banking and they haven't drafted the money yet! Assuming it will be out today though...
I guess I'm just suprised they would allow that to happen since my account is so new (1st statement cuts 3/6) so I don't have a proven payment record or anything.
Is this common practice?
Just opposite for me...I have been waiting 3 days for a payment to post now!!!!! Ugggg
it could be dependant by bank.
like amex i can pay it online from their site, and it posts automatiically but the bank takes 1-3 days too show on my account, so i feel rich for a little bit.
but walmart for example takes like 8 days to do anything (a little sarcasm)

+1
Most of my cards post usually on the following day (even on weekends for AMEX) on my account, but may take several days to hit my bank. I did the same as the OP on my CITI account, made a payment on Friday, it posted on my account with new balance on Saturday (but postdated to Friday), and hit my bank today. Discover has always been very quick to update my account status on line, even though it may take a few days for that to hit my bank. YMMV.
This is routine for me. Same with Capital One. Almost everyting I make a payment they credit my available balance before it gets processed by my bank. I bank at Chase FYI.
shrug. I wouldn't want to know what happens if a payment were to get stopped by an account holder though. lol
Yes, discover does this with me as well. I love it. Use to throw me off, now i just tell myself "wait for it...wait for it..." when looking at bank account.
Chase does this immediately when i pay with my chase checking.
I'd say this is mostly dependent on what bank you have, but I'm not positive. I pay from the Chase, Amex and Discover sites when I pay my credit card bills and it takes a few days for all of them to have the money withdrawn from my Wells Fargo account.

Lol! I thought, I was the only one who said that!
I set up a pyt for Fri- got the email from Discover today saying my payment has posted for Friday and the money has been taken out of my CU
This is the case with all of my credit cards.
