Hmm....That's interesting, Gypsy...I wonder...I wonder if you get approved for say Zync, you can then app for Gold; also, I wonder if you app for Green you can then app for Gold same day. But it seems if you are declined for a charge card on 1 day then you cannot app again that same day.
It seems like if you are approved, you can app again for another charge same day for a higher tier but if you are declined, you cannot...interesting stuff. We need more testers on this ![]()
" We need more testers on this" LOL ![]()
haha well I mean if you already got denied once, what's the hurt again on the same day?
It will only count once. ![]()
True that ![]()
Really? If you get denied once, it doesn't count if you apply for a different card with that company?
Not on the same day. If you do it the next day it's considered another pull.
That's interesting. I didn't know that. I can understand different days being considered separate pulls, that makes sense. But I would think applying again on the same day would be a separate pull as the company is initiating another hard pull on your account.

I tried to get an Amex once several years ago, after being an AU on my mom's Amex account, I got denied and left it at that. Should I try for the Amex Zync?
It is not specifically a student card, but it is meant for those without a lot of credit history. The "packs" (optional rewards categories) include areas that might appeal to young people in particular.
Do you know (as opposed to guessing) why you were denied last time? They should have sent a letter with the reasons, although I realize that was a while back.

I think the last time, I had too many revolving accounts with high balances which meant my utilization was definitely high. I also think I didn't have enough of a credit history to satisfy them. I know my balances have gone down as I've worked very hard to pay them down, though I haven't paid them off yet. My oldest card is a Cap1 that I got back in 04, so I may not have a long enough history for Amex. Cap 1 did just raise my limit, so that may help. I'm just not sure it's worth it. I'd defintely like to be in with the Amex family.
I'd say that 2004 is plenty long enough. With your util under reasonable control, I think it would be worth a shot, IF you can actually use this card. ![]()
