as some may i got my dad approved for a quicksilver cc at 3k.
i want to add a second tradeline to help with any utilization.
recently i apped for him for a discover card. and was declined. (i wanted my 50 bucks friend referal)
anyways the letter came in today, and it stated that he didnt have enough credit history with lenders. ( the accounts showing on cc that are in good standing are all closed)
his CR recently went up to a 760 since all of the negative info went away.
is AAoA is 11 years.
what are some good options for another cc ? ...freedom ? hes not pre-appvd.

amex likes thin files. Have u considered adding him as an AU to any of your accounts, that possibly could help but not by much.
You should consider going where he banks already, if you have a chase go in branch and app for the freedom. Credit union would be good too, be prepared to show income most of the time.

I'd stop looking at a new card at this time. New cards should not be a bandaid for utilization. Pay down/off the debt, IMO, before applying for anything. All you'll likely do is rack up denials (depending on the utilization situation).
Regardless of the utilization, it's usually good practice to refrain from apping for 90 days to 6 months after you are denied for something.
