amex app site down?

i'm trying to apply for a second AMEX and my browser is stuck at the screen where it asks for the CID code of my current card.

i see a blue spiraling icon, and the screen will not change. is there another way to initiate the app?

Very common problem. Call it in. That's what I had to do.

Log out of your AMEX account. Apply the card you want. When asked if you are an AMEX customer, type in the credit card number on your other AMEX card (15 digits).

I've heard using using firefox can make AMEX's site a little goofy every now and then.

The same EXACT thing just happened to me yesterday ... appears to be some kind of system error.... I tried a second time and the wheel spun for 1/2 hr or so I gave up

Yeah I have had that happen as well when I have applied online. I believe that I closed down my brower, and re~applied without putting in my card # and it was able to load the application.
