Re: anyone have any experience with Citi Driver's Edge?

Andy and Pg, if you've redeemed the 'drive rebates' specifically, how painless/painful was the process?

Eta: pg, too. Thanks!

Re: anyone have any experience with Citi Driver's Edge?

jaybee, I believe you are talking about score of "840".
I just applied and approved ( 3k CL ) for this card with around "750".  Plus I report my annual income is 24k and 10 months with my current employer.  I don't think you need "840" to apply for this card.

The offer I took is ... 0% APR on BT for 12 months from the date of that first BT.  I have until 01/2009 to make BT.  No offer for purchase.  Therefore my APR for purchase is 14.24%  (prime rate is 6.99).

Re: anyone have any experience with Citi Driver's Edge?

JayToo, Penguin, andy, hauling, and jaybee,
I just received a Citi Driver's Edge Card today and activate it.
Yes, the handbook stated that minimum is $25 to redeem your points.

Earning / Redeem Rebates:
Earn up to $1K a year.  Over the course of five years, you have the opportunity to accumulate up to $5k in rebate.
Rebates will automatically expire if you do not make a transaction for 12 consecutive months, or if you do not redeem your rebates within five years from the date the rebates are earned.
Earn up to $500 of your total annual rebates of $1K with miles you drive.
Receive $1 in rebates for every 100 miles you drive.
You can redeem $1 in Drive Rebates for every $1 in purchase rebates you have earned.
Redeem for any service, repair, or maintenance performed on your vehicle when you use your Citi's Edge Card to pay for these services.
You must complete and return the Service Redemption Form and enclose a copy of your itemized receipt and a copy of your Citi Driver's Edge charge slip within 90 days of your date of service.
You will receive your rebate as a statement credit to your Citi Driver's Edge account within 2 billing cycles.
You can claim rebates for service performed but not for items purchased.  Example; and oil change qualifies, but a case of oil from the supermarket does not.

There is no information about how many % you will earn with what you spend with this card in this handbook.  Well, I call the CS and verify the information.  It was over sea CSR, and she told me 3% on Gas Station/Grocery Store/Drug Store and 1% on others.  I call back and ask for US side, and he said he is in US side and call them back half hour later because middle of updating the computer system.  Smiley Mad  I don't believe he is US side CSR, because of his intonation/accent.  This is the one thing I don't like about any of CCC's CS when it connect to the over sea.

I just call them back and got information on rebate.
6% for Gas/Drug Store/Grocery Store categories for 12 months and 1% for others.
After 12 months, 1% for all categories and additional 2% for Gas/Drug Store/Grocery Store categories.  Which it makes 3% for those three categories.

Now, it is time to use this card to take advantage on 6% reward next 12 months.  Sorry Citi Dividend Platinum Select MC, your time is over ... you only give me 2% for those three categories.   lol .....

Re: anyone have any experience with Citi Driver's Edge?

Hey, everyone, I was being facetious when I asked if you needed an 849 on TU to get this one. The rewards (specifically for gas) just seem so much better than other cards out there these days.

Sorry, didn't mean to send everyone down the wrong trail. Smiley Tongue

But thanks for the responses. So we know that mid-700's works currently, anyway.

bunnyrabbit, do you know which CRA they pulled? For my other Citi card, they pulled TU here in Tennessee, but they're all changing around so much lately...

Penguin and JayToo, since you've had the card for a while but not really used it, do you remember if the rewards percentages have held stable over the years? Lots of rewards cards have really reduced their rebates, intro time period, and so forth (Discover Open Road, for instance, recently removed from my wish list.)

Also, please let us know if they do make any changes to your rewards programs.  I have a Citi Dividends Platinum Select MC, and Citi recently reduced my rewards rebates.  I've considered changing to the Driver's Edge card.  However, I'm wondering since they reduced the rebates on my Dividends card, will they also one day do the same on the Driver's Edge card?

OK ... you guys made me look, even though I really wasn't in the market for another card.

If we do 99.9% of our own maintenance and repair and the only time the car ever goes anywhere for service is a yearly trip to Jiffy Lube to get a new "inspection" sticker ... will that qualify for service necessary to report miles driven?

Re: anyone have any experience with Citi Driver's Edge?

They pulled TU in my case.
I'm sorry hauling, I don't live in TN.
I don't know which one they pull in TN.

Citi usually seems to pull TU here, too. Thanks!

Hmmm, TU's up to 734. Once my Sears/Citi 30-day goes over 12 months next month, I'm going to call Citi and see if I can get any sort of feel as to whether they think I'm rehabilitated yet! I haven't even gotten a CLI out of them yet. I don't mind them being conservative, and it was my fault, I just don't want to be blacklisted, because both the Drivers' Edge and Home Depot cards are Citi, and I'd really like to get them. They've never once sent an offer for even a store card. Smiley Sad

Re: anyone have any experience with Citi Driver's Edge?

Hi hauling!   How are you doing?   I have up-date information for you.
I just received my first statement on my Driver's Edge MC.  I made BT after the activation and there is 3% BT fee.  I was assuming my minimum due is 2% of statement balance.  It was wrong!    I call in and confirmed this amount with CSR, and it is 100% of BT fee plus 1% of BT amount + BT fee.  Smiley Surprised  I never taught about that I have to pay the BT fee in full ... miss calculation.  After this, the minimum due amount will be 1% of statement balance.  Wait to see this is true or not, and I will let you know again.  Have a nice weekend.

Re: anyone have any experience with Citi Driver's Edge?

Ouch, I hate surprises like that!

I finally realized that the Drivers' Edge rewards were points instead of cash back, so I switched to the PenFed gas card. But I still think that the Drivers' Edge card is a good deal, especially if someone is getting ready to buy a car.

Enjoy your weekend too! I'm ready for winter to be over. This is the first time in the 12 years that we've lived at this house that we haven't had at least one lonely yellow crocus in bloom by Valentine's Day. Smiley Mad The dogwoods and daffodils are in bud, but they are sensibly holding off opening until the weather finally settles down. I'm sick and tired of winter clothes every day (don't really mind the occasional cold snap.)
