@Anonymous wrote:Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and I had a small question about chase bank specifically. I have tried to go for their pre-qualified check, but for some reason I always get an error saying that I have turned away promotions and emails from chase regardless of my account that I have with them already. Is there any way for me to get back on their promotion/pre-qualified/etc list again? Please help!
Also, since I have gained an account standing with this forum, I would like to let everyone know that I've been very successful relatively with regards to my age group I would suppose. I am now entering the garden as I have 6 CC's with a total of 31K credit!! All no annual fee cards so time to let my age of accounts grow like no tomorrow!
I have never received any pre-qual but I have been approved for any card I applied for. So pre-qual is not the absolute indicator for approvals
@Anonymous wrote:but what about let's say, pre-qualified offers for Soft Pull CLIS? Does Chase even do that?
You can't get a CLI without already having the card so prequal is irrelevant.
They do offer CLI's based on SP but many here don't seem to get them. I don't either but my wife has received several. As always, YMMV.
It seems that opting out and asking Chase to stop sharing information via privacy department (due to United credit card mailings every 2 weeks ) affects pre-quals in my experience. Congrats on your credit journey~!

As others have said, it's not necessary to have a pre-approval to get in. Just as a pre-app doesn't automatically mean you're in.
However, a few things about pre-apps are good. With Chase, unless you changed your credit patterns since they SP-ed you, you're good to go if you get a pre-app. With AMEX for e.g., it seems pre-apps are the best way to get targeted offers or special deals not shown to every applicant (that, and the incognito browser sometimes).
To your second question, Chase does seem to send some cardholders special invites (soft pulls) where you just input your current income and get an SP CLI. Other than that and auto CLIs, all customer initiated CLIs are HP.
