hey raenys, they didn't provide me a score. but i pulled one from the myfico trial which it turned out to be 668. from reading through the report, it was mainly do to the high balances on the card. (pulled from equifax )
and yes, there are balances on those cards. i removed myself about a week or so ago after being denied the card.
jealous of your daughter...
i might be looking into the freedom or zync card if theres no fees =)
and just for information: citi has 90 days recon policy =)
Chase Freedom is a very hard card to get. I think I would hold off on that one.
Zync has a $25 annual fee (so long as you don't add any other packs).
If you only removed yourself a week ago, then your reports have not updated yet. Perhaps you may want to wait until your reports update.
The balances on the cards could be affecting you.
If Citi has a 90 day recon, I would call after your reports update.
Of all the companies, Cap1 appears to be the easiest IMO. Cap1 was the only company willing to give my daughter her first card, and she was a ghost at the time with no credit record at all. It paved the way for better opportunities so it has served its purpose well.
Do you know why so many people are interested in getting Amex? I feel like there has to be a reason that i don't know about. and if it's worth it maybe i will try for the Zync.
Hopefully it falls offt the report soon. i was looking through the forum and saw that i can call experian to ask them to remove it..so i'll give that a try. i wonder if they'll update that to citi or if i'll have to have another hard pull...
and im still not sure about capital one. I feel like I would be better off with a target card or maybe another discover card?
i just hope that i can recon this citi card..and ill be happy =)
so that success story we were hoping for...CITI FORWARD ACCEPTED =) 4000 limit =) way higher than discovers $500... (-.-) ill update on my credit score later. =) Thank you again!
Wow that's great!
Congratulations! Job well done, and you got a nice starting CL to boot!
This is why I love Citi. They do tend to be the most generous.
Rather than applying for another Discover card, you would probably be better off doing credit limit increase request. HOWEVER, I would wait until your credit limit reports on your Citi card. Discover may match or beat it.
As far as Zync goes, as you know it is a charge card and must be paid in full every month. The fee is $25.00 per year, which is much lower than any of their other cards. That is a plus. You can also customize the card with "packs" for an additional fee. You choose the packs where you would spend more in that particular catagory to get more points per dollar. Zync is also one of their easier cards to get. As far as standard rewards, you are only getting 1 point for every eligible dollar. There are of course other AMEX charge card offers, green card for $95 AF, Gold $125 AF and Gold premier $175 AF. You can go on the AMEX website and compare their card offers.
The BEST perk with AMEX in my opinion is that you get extended warranty coverage for eligible purchases. No need to purchase an extended warranty. I just bought an SLR camera this week. It comes with a one year manufacturer's warranty. I used my AMEX and now I have one additional 1 year coverage (total of 2). Now, there are other cards out there that have extended warranty protection, but none compare to AMEX or their service if something should go wrong IMO.
