closed my Chase Freedom

I had tried for a CLI since I have had the card for about 5 months now and always PIF.

It was denied when I tried through the CSR route and denied on recon.

I then contacted the EO and it was denied there as well. I told her to just close the account.

Since my Amex BCE is on the way with a CL 4x that of the Freedom, the decision was easy IMO.

Thanks Chase!!

Short sighted to say the least -- but if it makes you happy, congrats!

Re: closed my Chase Freedom

Wish I'd gone for the Walmart Discover instead.

At this point, I'm only keeping the Freedom because it helps with utilization. There's also a little bit of stubborness making me want to hold out until year 3 with no CLI, LOL!

Re: closed my Chase Freedom

5 mos is a little short for most lenders.  If it was 5 yrs I cuold better see your point.  As long as you are comfortable with your decision and your other card fits your spending habits that's all that truly matters.

Re: closed my Chase Freedom

Why should someone keep a $500 limit Freedom (that is unlikely to grow well through regular use) when they have a NFCU membership and $27K in limits betwen two cards?

drkaje,

Great minds think alike. This is exactly why I closed it. That decision was easy after the BCE approval.

Basically because you already took the hard inquiry and there is no annual fee so no harm in just letting it sit.....

I'll admit I was pretty pi**ed when Discover declined my 90 day CLI a couple weeks ago (eventually recon-ed and approved) but not pi**ed enough to close in completely. But like a couple others have said-to each his own.
