Wish I'd gone for the Walmart Discover instead.
At this point, I'm only keeping the Freedom because it helps with utilization. There's also a little bit of stubborness making me want to hold out until year 3 with no CLI, LOL!

+1 not something I would recommend doing but to each their own.
5 mos is a little short for most lenders. If it was 5 yrs I cuold better see your point. As long as you are comfortable with your decision and your other card fits your spending habits that's all that truly matters.
Why should someone keep a $500 limit Freedom (that is unlikely to grow well through regular use) when they have a NFCU membership and $27K in limits betwen two cards?
At some point next year. I'm going to roommate with a friend to obtain eligibility.

Basically because you already took the hard inquiry and there is no annual fee so no harm in just letting it sit.....
I'll admit I was pretty pi**ed when Discover declined my 90 day CLI a couple weeks ago (eventually recon-ed and approved) but not pi**ed enough to close in completely. But like a couple others have said-to each his own.
