csr for one purchase to pay off a bit then balance transfer

I already have a strong relationship with chase.

I wanna get the csr to get a purchase that i know is going to be 4k. Pay off a bit so im not cheating the system. like 500-600. then balance transfer the rest to another card so i don't have to deal with 16.74 apr.

would this work or is it iffy.

I don't think it would be a problem.

If you want to be more strategic about it, make a test charge for a cup of coffee, to get the card started out slowly, make your $4k purchase, and let it remain on the card while the statement prints. Before the payment due date after that first statement, run the BT offer to move most of the amount off the CSR.

After the first statement prints, you are still in the Grace Period, so start using the card again for regular spend. The $4k or most of it will go off onto the BT, so you should be able to pay the remainder from the first statement, then PIF going forward on the CSR, correct?

A BT really just looks like another payment. A bank could look closely and maybe figure out it was a BT, but they got their cash. As long as your original $4k purchase is legitimate, should not be an issue with this sequence.

Some BT take a while so make sure its long before due date. A company that lets you write check to chase or write to yourself would work great. If you bank with Chase it will be paid out of checking instantly too.
