duck car declined...with 730ish score

I applied last week and i did my address and 2 tradelines verification with them last week as well. I called in today to check my app status, she said I was declined due to the following reason :

1.Too many inquiries in last 12 months.
I have only 4 inquiries in a year, with 2 inquiries almost hit 1 year mark, is 4 considered too many? I really don't think so.

2. High balance on account.
This is the funniest part, my balance is 66 in total. Yes, sixty six dollar, no typo. My total credit was 8000.

They messed up my app with other person?

Is there any phone line for recon? Hopefully someone knows coz I know most people get approved so far. My score is 730ish

The reasons seriously make no sense to me.

My only disadvantage is aaoa, 10 months. But she didn't said that.

I don't assume that they go by score alone.  Other factors would likely come into play with OCCU, even as lenient as CUs come.  Just because it seems everyone is getting some bread from the bread line doen't mean all will.

Re: duck car declined...with 730ish score

Dont take the high balance reason to serious.

Everytime chase denied my for the CSP i always got that same reason. My total balance was like 130 something.

Re: duck car declined...with 730ish score

Maybe after word getting out on their generous CLs, too many (random/non-affiliated) people app'd and they felt they were getting stretched too thin, and are tightening up their approval rate or criteria?

I don't know if anyone else here is familiar with "SD effect" (named after a massively popular deal-sharing site's acronym and the subsequent effect that such a large exposure of a good deal generally tends to kill its lifespan)... maybe we're seeing the "myfico effect?"

xD

You don't list how long your history is, but 10 mos AAoA is kind of short. You also don't list what other accounts you have, and how long they have been opened. I would'nt think you would get approved/denied on score alone, which is why some people with a longer history and a lower score got approved (albeit with lower limits).  Unfortunately, I don't think the denial reasons given by CSR's are always accurate - or the only reasons for denial. Wait for the letter. Usually, at most banks/CU's the front line CSR's can't even tell you why you were denied, they will tell you to call back after you receive the letter.
