first premier--when do you get your card??

i checked my scores today and it shows that first premie already reported and it shows that my balance is one hundred something dollars--i guess due to all of their "fees".

anyways, i would like to pay down some of this balance ASAP.  but i obviously cant if i dont even have my card, let alone account number.  lol.  just wondering how long it generally takes.  what about for Tribute??  tia

Re: first premier--when do you get your card??

Please give update to what happened in this situation.

I just had the same thing happen to me, after becoming more educated by this site, I was actually hoping for a denial.  So I don't know the credit limit to figure my current util and don't know how to pay to get it down.  Actually, I'd like to find out how to close, considering the monthly maintenance fees they charge.

All responses appreciated.

Re: first premier--when do you get your card??

First Premier and Tribute are rebuilder cards that charge fees every month.  To pay, you pay a fee, to get the card, you pay a fee, for having the card, you pay a fee.

Use them to get your scores up by paying on time and keep the balances low and then dump them when your scores are high enough to get approved for better cards with no fees attached.

the B of A secured is  a good one to start with
Orchard is not a fee card, except for annual fee (mine is 29.00) but they don't charge you monthly fees just to have the card.

depending on scores, cap one

Re: first premier--when do you get your card??

I found the below forum discussion on closing the First Premier if necessary before activation

I just called CSR and after being transferred to an account specialist, I tried to cancel and they offered to do cli from $200 to $275 and reduce one time fee of $143 by or to $80 (I don't remember which).

The CSR even said something about if I don't use the card to make any purchases but pay the one time $143 and $7 monthly participation for a year,(cancelling before the year anniversary, at which time $49 AF is applied), then I could be refunded all payments.  Does that sound right?

After saying I would need to see that last part in writing, the CSR got highly, highly offended that I "questioned her professional integrity" and at that moment I simply said "cancel it."  She told me to cut the card up when I got it and everything will be taken care of - she didn't even give me the cancel confirmation number!!!  Not falling for that one, I politely apologize to her taking personal offense and asked for the confirmation number - and to think I was about to do business with them.  whew, dodge a bullet on that one.

Re: first premier--when do you get your card??

It took me a little over a month to get my FP card.  I'm not sure when they started reporting, but they did start calling me asking questions about payments.  I guess that I had missed the due date.  I told them that I hadn't received my card and they told me that they would send out another one.  They called every other day for a couple of weeks until I finally did recieve the card and I put a check in the mail immediately.  Two FP cards reported on my credit report for a while.  I didn't want to remove it because it made me seem as if I had more available credit then I really had and it was an additional positive credit line.  I finally disputed it when I was cleaning my credit report and it was removed.
Didn't realize it at the time, but it was adding negatively to my utilization and the delete increased my score.
