so i got intoxicated and got the amazon store card ($3,500) and the chase amazon ($500) and the sallie mae ($2,500). essentially the amazon store and sallie offer better rewards than the chase amazon so i don't think i will use the amazon chase card.
even though i eat out often i will use my NFCU cashRewards for 1.5% cash back so i am thinking of closing my chase amazon, putting the limit to my chase freedom and saying bye bye
got all three (amazon store, chase amazon and SM in june this year)
what do you guys think of this?
i feel the chase amazon is bringing me down with that low limit. those NOT ON MOBILE PLEASE ASK ME FOR MY CARD LIMITS SO YOU CAN SEE
thanks!Chase Amazon is not very exciting and you will have very little use for it with your Sallie (although as I say over and over I expect Sallie to be nerfed sooner or later especially the Amazon part).
Moving the limit to your Freedom makes sense, but since it is only a 500 limit you will need to keep your Amazon Visa inactive for 30 days I believe (no transactions, zero balance). Chase lets you move a limit and you have to leave 500 behind if there is any activity on the account; since your limit is only 500, I assume you need to wait the 30 days and have no activity.
Chase does not typically reallocate any CLs of $500 (or less). If the Amazon Card was $750 or higher then yes - provided no activity has occurred on the account for sometime prior to reallocation.

Well, after all, you're the one that pulled the trigger!
Mistake do not close any of your accounts keep at least 20 bucks on there and alive, it will do wonders for your FICO score. Hope this helps

thanks!I applied for the chase amazon card one day because amazon offered $30 off my order if approved. Gave me a CL of $500 as well. I closed it a month later. Just wanted the $30 off :/
OMGeee! You took a HP for a $30-discount essentally. Why not keep the card, if I might ask?
I totally took a HP for a $70 discount (combined with some gift cards made my cart free) and saw it as a future CLI on my Freedom card as I will some day reallocate my limit over and close if they don't enhance their rewards structure.

Hey, looking the bright side, at least you didn't try to start a firework on your head while drunk.
I opened my Amazon Chase card back in April during an app spree. Same thing, I had no use for it. Used it for coffee purchases with the $30 bonus. I don't really shop Amazon anyway, so just yesterday I successfully moved the CL to my Chase Freedom and closed the Amazon card. They had no problem with it, even at $500 CL since I had previously moved some CL to the Freedom card a month ago.
