the others are co branded cards. Such as playstation sony card and gm card.
So simple 2 regular cap 1s. 2 co branded and 1 legacy. or 2 regs. 2 legacy and 1 co branded. its not that hard. but who the hell in their right mind would want 5 cap 1 cards. co branded or not. and with a 605 to be honest. you have a long way to go to get approved for anything good. so just wait it out. and improved your credit. that is a long way from being good credit. but at least you are going in the right direction.
I'm looking to the future when I will have great credit score. I am being proactive by not setting myself up where my oldest card, which I woulnt be able to cancel, is a secured card with a small limit. I've read about folks in that position. Since I am just now receiving the card, a new unsecured would be the same age in the future. It will have a high limit and probably converted to something better. The secured card not so.

Most started with secured card. That's nothing new. But you will learn. Never go with 1 lender. Yes. Get a non secured card. Even from cap 1. When that secured becomes a yrR old. Cancel it. It will still give history on your report. Whether it's open or not. Keep reading and learn. Don't worry about the number of cards. It's only tAkes about. 3 cards to have great fico. Secured or not. Just here. People like numbers. Mostly because they can get it. Not because they need it.
Ok I see your point. I need to go with a different company. I will need one more card to have 3. I should let the score grow a little more and select a different company, maybe even BOFA secured which graduates to unsecured.

Thanks for posting, I did not know it only required three cards to improve fico. Thanks for the advice.

Exactly. But don't focussing much now on secured. If you had that secured 6 months. You are ready to get on board with the big boys. Unless lotsof bad things on yourcredit report.
off topic question, those who mentioned about capital ones doing soft pulls, how do you find out if a company soft pulled your credit report?
