thin file for authorized user

My wife and I recently moved here. I have a secured BofA travel rewards card, on which my wife is an AU. I regularly check my own score through creditkarma.com, and it's reporting fine. However, now that I've checked my wife on creditkarma.com, it says she has a "thin file". Does anybody know why? Are we better off just getting a secured card on her name with $500, doing a single purchase per month and that's it?

Re: thin file for authorized user

If your wife has little to no credit in her own name, her file would be thin.
