thinking on getting a new card after paying off all my other cards..

OK so last month I paid off all of my credit cards  19,707 worth (4 cards) I did a whole thread on it in another part of the forum.. now I have nothing on my credit cards I was going to leave  a balance on one card so that I was not a 0% usage but then came back and decided I didnt want to pay the 24.99%.. I was thinkin of applying for a new Chase Freedom with the 0% apr for 15 months and 150 cash back ( I have a chase and its paid off) and was wonding if this is a BAD idea being I was going to buy something for about 1,000 on it then pay the payments monthly just to keep something on my Credit report and that I am paying on time etc. I would figure that I should have no issue getting a new card being I have never been late on a payment ( in the past 10-13 years) my last credit card was opened in 2011..

as of now my  scores are

Equ  770

Trans  760

Eqx  752

prior to paying off at the end of last month they were

Equ    741

Trans 715

Eqx  732

which is odd they didn't go up that much being I was at 89% utilization and now at 0% and all the cards have shown as the balances being paid on myfico..

Is opening a new card this soon to paying(aug 21) all my others off a BAD idea or?? and is the chase Freeedom a good card like I said pretty much going to use it to buy something then pay it off as it goes along any maybe use it now and then alone with my other cards to keep my credit alive so they don't get shut off for not using.

Thanks

Congratulations on paying off your CCs. However, you’re losing points by having all cards at $0. Let at least 1 CC report—it should be >1%, but <8.9%.

Also, I disagree with you. A 31/45/20-pt increase is big. Once you have one CC report a balance, you’ll gain some more points.

If the only poblem with your credit profile was high UT, which has been corrected, you should not have a problem getting a Freedom or any other card for that matter. But IMO, I think you should wait 30 days to ensure CCCs will be pulling the latest reports.

You do not need to carry a balance in order to avoid a 0% utilization. All you need to do is have a balance on a card when the statement closes, then pay the balance in full after the closing date. No interest, but a balance will show on your credit report. Don't pay interest to show a balance using that method.
