my dad has a wells fargo visa signature rewards card
https://www.wellsfargo.com/credit-cards/visa-signature/
it earns points but he never uses them for anything. the points expire after 5 years and his are about to expire, so he has to use them now, but we don't know what they are actually good for.
i looked at the fine print on the website and it says:
50% more value when redeemed for airfare, but we don't need any airfare.
Cash redemption options by phone or online are available in increments of $25 only.
i haven't found any site showing what else you can do with these points. very mysterious!
Take a look here and I am sure you can come up with something to splurge on. They can be used to purchase a number of goods, products and services. I hope this helps out.

I keep trying to PC my Platinum card for that airfare reduction perk. They told me the card needs to be open for one year before I can do so.

Wells Fargo recently started allowing point redemptions for purchases (similar to the Capital One "Purchase Eraser") and IIRC the minimum is $1 (I've used it for purchases as small as $2 before).
