I'm just glad people are finally talking about this. It made it seem like it was just me! Smiley Happy

 

@mfinsmi1That's really interesting that CRs can't PC either!  When I first posted here the assumption was to just call.  But yeah, this sounds like it goes beyond just an internet process improvement (which didn't need improvement before, it was just a button.)  This sounds like either something is wrong with the internal systems, or they're being audited and cant change anything, or they're planning product lineup changes and don't want people changing in the meantime. Eliminating PCs entirely is just strange.  I guess with the sheer number of mailers they send me, they could just be trying to drum up applications for second cards, by blocking PCs, too.

 

Like you, I'm not using the disco for much other than the week between Citi's payment and statement date because it's just a 1% card right now. But I try to use it for at least a few hundred bucks a month, I want to keep a good relationship with them.

What is making you think PC is some mandatory thing they should do if they want to "be a player" 

 

Is there anything in T&C/Cardmember Agreement that states product changes are somehow a feature/benefit of this card? 

 

You have Chrome. Either it was secured since you are still rebuilding, or that's what you applied for, so it's not like they changed your card to something you didn't want and now you're stuck. 

Lenders continuously make changes, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. 

If the ability to change type of product comes back, yay! 

If it doesn't, you either make the best out of what you have or you can always close it and apply for the card you want. 

 

Bottom line, no one was promised that product changes are going to be available, it's just something they used to do but aren't doing right now. 

 

Looking at your signature, you've cleaned up your report a bit but I bet 8 months ago (scores listed) you were thrilled to have Discover. Try remembering that before being annoyed by Discover.

While I disagree with the last part (you are free to be annoyed one second after being delighted, no need for consistency in this game) I agree with general sentiment.  PCs are not part of the requirements to join the  "Big Boy/Girl/Fluid Credit Card Issuers Club"    As some of us point out from time to time, most of the "real" credit card holders don't seek CLIs or even know it's possible, and I'm sure the number who PC is much less.   It's just for credit card fans who often aren't that profitable either.

@Remedios  at the end of the day its not that deep , this posts intention is not to bash discover and as a cardholder i am allowed to feel annoyed if a feature they used to have is no longer there. Everything else about discover is solid .

Well, I get it but below is your first post, and bolded parts aren't really congruent with this post. 

I'm not saying you should send them flowers and candy forever as a sign of everlasting gratitude, I'm saying Discover didn't try to pull something shady because PCs are something lenders may allow but not something that's guaranteed to stay forever.

 

Now to the post and parts I disagree with. There is nothing wrong with what you're trying to do, it's about expectation that they must allow it or it's "bs and do better" 

I already addressed why notification is not needed for lack of ability to PC 

 

ive been trying to product change my chrome to the cash back since May and they still have not come out with their "new" system. I think its kind of bs that they got rid of their product change without notifying people first. I have a feeling at this rate they may get rid of being able to convert cards all togeather since its been 3 months without any update. And the reps have no idea either. SMH i have no use for my chrome card anymore. 

 

Also why do they still have a website detailing product changes when you cant do it. Do better Discover. Rant over lol

At the risk of bringing down The Wrath of @Remedios on me, IMO this last part is entirely justified.   The website advertises a feature which when you follow goes to the equivalent of an "under construction" page.  And as @FireMedic1 found, you may even have to go through steps of selecting which card you want to PC before being told you can't just yet.      I think with any issuer this sort of website failure would draw ire here.   Sure, we don't need to burn down Discover's HQ and ritually kill the senior staff  but a whine on MyFico is justified.

Five months later and nothing.  It's been 8 months since Discover disallowed product changes.  My graduated Secured card is useless.  I guess I'll just continue to only put my $0.99 Apple cloud charge on it monthly since they waive it as a low balance credit.  Otherwise, it's trash.
