Very true, but what I mean to say is that people tend to carry a card and use that as a fallback and a reason to not have a savings account. Not only that, but if they are carrying it just for emergencies, they risk having their account closed for inactivity. It's just one of the many pieces of "advice" I was given by people older to me, before I did my own research. Ask me two years ago what a credit card was for, and I'd tell you, "accruing debt, buying things you don't have the money for, paying interest, buying gum once a month, and emergency funds." That's all I knew, and I don't think that's too uncommon, unfortunately. Otherwise, I was just really unlucky. Lol.
Only a year to go and I can join that 32% !!
I'm 20 years old and made mistakes when i was 18. Learned from them and thankfully it didn't have a long lasting impact on my score. Just have to learn from your mistakes and not continue to make them over and over again lol
Damn when I was 18 I made so many mistakes its not even funny! Now my record is spotless and clean! Now I got credit out the backend and in VERY good standing! Even bought a house just last year. Feels good to be on the up with it.
I'd be curious of the ones polled if there were older people that maybe messed up pre-myFico forums/ pre-internet where information was lacking. Back then I didn't even know what a myFico was, let alone a utilization or hard pull etc.
