If what the article is sharing holds truth, I find that really messed up!

Agreed if true, as this means they're no better than WF.

I'm not shocked nor surprised, and I wouldn't be shocked to read this about any lender.

I absolutely agree. Working in sales for the last 14+ years I see the effect that unrealistic quotas/goals has on those who have weaker morals. It lies more in the individual who is willing to sacrifice their ethics to close that next sale, hit that next target, or make that next dollar. Sometimes the company turns a blind eye to it when it benifits them. At the end of the day, it's not everyone who works for the company, or even necessarily that company's eithics that are the problem per se, it's the line level employees and their management that are willing to do things "the easy way" to make themselves look better, or make a quick buck.

Re: AmEx Pushed Businesses to Boost Card Sales

Unfortunately I think we're seeing this across wider swathes of corporate America.

The fines imposed by regulators don't make a material difference to the companies involved unfortunately.  Also I don't think this is going to make the same waves the WF scandal did as it wasn't taking advantage of what I'll just try to nicely label as underdogs in modern American society.  For as good as our market society is and the innovation it's lead as a result, end of the day it's all about making as much money as they can without being entirely scrupulous.

Case in point BOFA and the builder on my damned Texas home purchase, whole thing leaving a bad taste in my mouth but no lawyer or media gives a crap about me nor should they as there are people who need far more help than I do.
