Yeah but Amex is definitely more expensive with those fees but amazon seems to take Amex without issue?

While the great majority of Chase's consumer cards are issued as Visa, they also issue MCs, such as the IHG CC. So, I'm sure if it came to a network kerfuffle, Chase *could* potentially switch cards depending on whatever strategies are at their disposal.

Amazon takes AmEx.
Plus, they have a partnership with AENB who issues two business cards tiers.
