I imagine for those out there that aren't fans of Barclays, this is good news.
I just hope I can product change my AA card into another custom cash once it switches over to citi
Going to start transitioning cards to Citi in 2026. No real details at this time. I assume Aviator Red/silver > Platinum Select is gonna be the change.
So it looks like you have 1 year to get a Barclays Aviator card.
I got mine a couple months ago just for the SUB
i was planning on canceling it after spending the miles but now I'll hold onto it in hopes of PCing it into another Citi Custom Cash
Wonder what the signup bonuses might be for 2026?
Maybe a new lineup of cards for the changeover. I have an AA card already but wouldn't mind a nice refresh of benefits across the cards in 2026.
Interesting nugget: "American said it would start transitioning its Barclays cardholders to Citi in 2026 but didn’t provide details."
What if you already have a Citi AA Card and the Barclays' AA Card? Curious if Barclays will offer to PC me to another card they offer or if AA will make them move it to Citi and then I'll have 2 Citi Cards....combine them into 1 Citi card with an increased limit or shut one down.
Need to remember to close my Barclays no AF AA card sometime next year so doesn't hinder my citi AA bonus in future. Citi AA once elevated bonus comes back actually might be my next card as starting to get low on AA miles down to 50k.
This morning I received this email from AA.
While it does mention Citi will reissue my Barclays Card....more details to come on what card I will be transitioned too.
Already holding the Executive Card from Citi and the Silver Aviator from Barclays....I can "hypothesis" that my Silver Barclays would become a Citi Platinum as the AF is similar thus leaving me with the Platinum and Executive....which would be useless. Wondering if I can merge CL's into the Executive, giving up the 2nd card but retaining the $50K Credit Line from Barclays on top of the $41K Credit Limit with Citi today for a combined $91K with 1 card. I don't know enough about Citi rules to determine if that's allowed or something they do or not. Perhaps, once the migration is done...I would have the option to then PC that 2nd Citi card into a non-cobranded product. Time will tell....
I burned Citi in Chapter 7 BK in 2020, what is this going to mean for people like me?
