As the press release states, you can get a limited edition yellow platinum if you buy tickets to this event. I think tickets start at 1k. It is for a good cause. I did not see a thread, though I may have missed it.
"Nice card! Amex Gold...my brother has a Platinum, though."

My first thought exactly.
"B-b-but is your Amex Gold actually made of gold though? "

It predates my membership, and perhaps my adulthood, but apparently Amex had to add "PLATINUM" to the front of the cards when customers complained they were being mistaken for "Amex Silver" cards.
Of course, they were plastic at the time, so there was no "premium clue" from the weight.
No thanks. I'd rather just donate the $1,000 and not keep that ridiculously ugly card.
Fantastic idea, Amex graphic designers. I'm sure the reward of a piss yellow card will really inspire people to donate. *eye roll*
This would look great on an NYC yellow cab as a wrap
No thanks, that $550 annual fee tells me no. I'm already not happy with the increase in the fee on my Gold.
