I read it will be GoldmanSachs getting into a new market for them. It'll be on ApplePay, so everywhere we use ApplePay, it'll work. MottleyFool had a good article on it.
edit... So it will be a big win for both of them, and us.

Yes, I was thinking about this, too. I'm interested to see how they do their underwriting for the card, compared to Barclays.
I'm curious about the underwriting, as well. From data points I've read here the Apple card from Barclays is fairly easy to get which is uncharacteristic of them. I've read accounts of people getting the card with 610-640 on TransUnion. I'm hoping I won't need to readjust my app plans too much.
Welp, I've been reading this news with my pants around my ankles. Why I have no idea. I mean, while I am an avowed iSheep I still want my credit cards to do something for me and you just know Apple is going to count so heavily on its fanatical users signing up for this thing in droves that the rewards will be pitiful.
Now if Jony Ive designs a metal card in rose gold I may just lose my **bleep**.
I have not had much success success either with approval or recon with Goldman so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that they would be taking over the Apple store Visa and rewards program from Barclays, I have confirmed with Barclays that things are BAU for the time being until Goldman launches its new products in the beginning of 2019.
Looks like I’ll need to pick another Barclays card, but when?
Really bummed!
Any details on the rewards for this card?

Or just drop Barclays in general. It's not like they're a great lender or anything.
