Re: Capital One Data Breach

They get all of our information but on the bright side:

""Importantly, no credit card account numbers or log-in credentials were compromised and over 99 percent of Social Security numbers were not compromised," according to Capital One. "

Re: Capital One Data Breach

How the heck is the charge for this so low? 5 years and $250K is a slap on the wrist! You pull something like this, it should be 20-life. It’s the only way they will ever discourage these breaches.

Re: Capital One Data Breach

Yeah at first they said all your data was compromised then they say oh your SS# is safe. The women who hacked the firewall did not do anything with the data. Yeah ok I believe that.

CapOne announces data breach

The Virginia-headquartered bank said in a news release that about 140,000 Social Security numbers of its credit card customers and around 80,000 linked bank account numbers were compromised. In total, Capital One said, “this event affected approximately 100 million individuals in the United States and approximately 6 million in Canada.”

Re: Capital One Data Breach

My first thought was (as usual after a big breach) "this is why you should freeze your credit files"   But then it struck me with EQ being hacked as well, it's probably only a few extra steps for a hacker to unfreeze a report and app anyway,.

And they all sit there and laugh. Equifax will pay 17% of one years profit for their epic breech, they are laughing as well, so will Cap-1 after the lawsuits, the people will get nearly zilch. Sick of it all.
