January credit-card delinquency, charge-off rates

January credit card delinquency, charge-off rates

I know...it's after the holidays, maybe not that surprising, etc., but is a 1.2% jump in net charge-off rate normal for this time of year at Alliance? I know they do store cards, and it shouldn't be a surprise that they would do worse than other issuers this time of year.

I just find it interesting that Capital One seems to be comfortable with charge-off rates that are similar to Synchrony and Alliance. You can basically tell just by looking at that list which issuer will be easier to get a card from.

Delinquencys are common after the christmas holiday. I would not expect to see a charge off until March as some states have rules on C/Os. Either way they look horrible on you're credit report.

I think CO's might spike either first month or last month of a financial quarter, but we'd have to probably look at individual lenders to try to pull out a pattern on that.
