LBO deals on hold until 2008 as crunch worsens

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A worsening credit crunch and its broad impact on financial markets has some dealmakers predicting that leveraged buyouts are on hold for the rest of the year and perhaps well into 2008 ...
The LBO won't be going away. Companies that appeared to be targets of LBOs might heave a sigh of relief, but they'd best git themselves looking "less ripe" for 2009 and perhaps even for 2008. The credit crunch will be shortlived, IMHO. Congress might sit idly by and watch as consumers suffer, but don't expect big bidniz not to go hat-in-hand (campaign contribution in the other) to Congress to "do something".
