They did.. (sort of) with the Synch branded 2% MC. IIRC it's invite only though so they seem to be trying to keep apps to a certain limit and criteria. Synch could try to enter the travel card market, but with Amex, Citi, Chase, USBank, BoA, etc. already deep into these things, it would be an uphill battle trying to build a product and rewards network that would take over these swipes and also be profitable. Cap One still has a lot of work to do on Venture if they want it to take a portion of this spend from Chase and Amex.
