A while back, WaMu sold a bunch of prime mortgages, including my 5.875% 30-year fixed loan, to Wells Fargo because they wanted to invest in higher-yield loans. Now I'll bet they'd love to have those boring low-rate loans back. Here's a comparison of how WaMu and WF stocks have done over the past coupld of years:
