Sort of thought that might be the case: a lot of lenders use max term as a function of amount - a small loan might be a really short loan... good catch!
Yup. I was fairly sure that the explanation was that the lender had switched the term to 12 months, and that's why I urged you to look carefully at the term in the small print of the final loan agreement (the doc you signed).
