Authorized User Accounts Scores abd Reports - TransUnion

TransUnion removed the "Authorized User" accounts from our file when we advised they were not correctly updating the balances. We did not want them removed we simply wanted the balances to match what was on the Primary cardholder's account and it did not.

We contacted the Credit Issuer and they certify they are reporting the information correctly.

TransUnion states the following: "Authorized used accounts may initially be reported when account is opened, however, they are not evaluated as part of the credit score because the person listed as an authorized user is not responsible for making payments on the account. This is also the reason the account was removed from the credit report."    According to what I have read online on your site and other Credit News websites, this "policy" was in effect in 2007, but was modified in the Summer of 2008 to allow for Husband/Wife and/or children. My husband and I have the same last name.

What can I send/tell TransUnion and/or the Credit Issuer so that the account is re-added and the balance correctly modified every month?

Is there something I can send them. We are in the process of purchasing a home and this is negatively affecting our credit because the overall debt to credit ration on the "Available" credit has been reduced with the deletion of the cards that are almost paid in full.

Please provide us with some direction.

Thanks,

Miami - Florida.

Re: Authorized User Accounts Scores abd Reports - TransUnion

Hello Miami, and welcome to the forums. Please read Credit Scoring 101, if you haven't already.

The lows that CRAs will stoop to never cease to amaze me. If you are still listed as AU, then the next time the CC reports, you should be reported again. That quote from TU is just plain old wrong. I do dare say that it's misleading at best.

The policy that you speak of is FICO '08. TU has rolled it out, but I would doubt that more than a handful or so of lenders have adopted it. AUs still count in FICO scoring.
