A friend of mine recently put me as authorize user on his chase card .Only problem is chase dosent report the credit limit, but the card is a year older then my accounts are. Will this hurt me or help me in raising my credit score? Also if I dispute it for the credit limit showing will it hurt or help?
I would ask your friend to contact Chase, and ask why the credit limit is not on the CR.
The way FICO works is it scores your CR on many different thing like credit history...how long you have a certain account.
Payment history-paying your bills on time with no lates, Mix of credit, the more you have to better-mortgage loan, installment loans and CC.
Check out...What's in your FICO score---click on the Education blue tab at the top---very detailed info.
Credit utilization is also important...util for each CC, plus a total util of all the CC together.
Credit util is a ratio of your CC balances to credit limits. With Chase not putting a CL on your CR, util is not calculated in your score, but that
is only one part, there are other things that the Chase account is helping your CS.
An AU account help your CS, as long as its older then your accounts, with no lates. As long as its reporting positive for the original CC
holder, it will report positive for you and vise versa.
I am a big opponent to the whole concept of distorting one's personal credit score by piggy-backing on the established credit of another
But, my personal prejudices aside, if the CCC authorizes the account holder to add a legit AU. then they should report the full credit history to the AUs credit report.
That includes the CL on the account.
