Auto Lease Dispute

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.  last year about this time my Equifax credit report indicated that I had an open auto lease.  The loan was actually paid in full and closed.  I disputed that it was still open and asked Equifax to report it as closed.  I recently received a new report and the paid in full account had not been closed but "deleted".  This auto lease was paid in full, never late and was helping my credit score.  Is there anyway I can get Equifax to restore it?

Re: Auto Lease Dispute

unfortunately no you can't. They can remove it any time they want to if it is closed. That is one of the funny things about disputing incorrect items. Instead of the CRA's taking the time to figure out the problem, it is easier for them to delete it.

Wow, I thought positive reports stayed on for 10 years.  I'm glad I didn't dispute it with all three agencies!

Nope they don't have to report positive things like they do negative things.

Re: Auto Lease Dispute

jaybee - What about two year old collections for medical bill co-pays, better to make a deal or pay in full?  Both collection agencies have refused PFD and I want to get all of this stuff behind me.  Both bills total less than $200.00 and I have sent both DV letters and disputed with the credit agencies as unauthorized.  I can probably get a deal for about $100.00 for both.

When was the last time they updated on your reports?

When you DV'd what was the outcome?

Re: Auto Lease Dispute

I just sent the DV letters out yesterday but I plan on buying a house in the next three months while it is still a buyers market.  These two are my most recent collections and I have about three others from 2002 and 2003.  I was going to try and work my way down.  One is on an ambulance bill from 2002 and the ambulance company billed me twice like I took two ambulances in one day.  I disputed both as not mine with the credit bureaus.  Should I also send a DV as it has been five years?
