Thanks for forwarding me to that 101 section. I'd actually looked there first and it didn't seem to answer my question as to who decides how long my bankruptcy stays on. In reading this article it seems to say what I've said, 7-10 years, but it seems that the norm may be that around the 7.5-8 year mark maybe they remove them. I'm at 8 years now and want to contact someone about the possibility of having it removed.

Bankruptcy: Chapters 7, 11, and 12 remain for 10 years from the filing date. Chapter 13 remains seven years from the filing date. Accounts included in bankruptcy will remain seven years from the date they were reported as included in the bankruptcy.
