I saw this on another post:
Equifax is the ONLY credit bureau that will sell you your FICO directly from their site. Experian won't sell you your FICO at all, from anywhere. TransUnion will sell you your FICO if you go to www.transunionCS.com <--note the -cs there. The score from their regular site is a FAKO.
Any opinions on whether to go to annual credit report.com to go DIRECTLY to each of the three (EQ, EX, TU)????
You can get your full reports through annualcreditreport.com if you haven't pulled your reports in the past 12 months. That site actually takes you to the credit bureau sites.
It is true that when buying scores, make sure they are FICO scores. The information in the quote you provided is correct.

So if I go to Annual Credit Report, it will give me a FAKO score? Will it even give a score?
You can buy the Equifax score from there and it is a real one but don't buy the scores offered from Experian or Transunion.
If you want your FICO scores you can buy the Equifax or Transunion score here at myfico. To save a little money do an internet search for "myfico discount codes". Or go directly to Equifax at www.equifax.com or Transunion at www.transunioncs.com. (note the -cs at the end).

Annualcreditreport.com does not provide scores.

However, you will have the option to purchase scores during the process of ordering each report via ACR as you visit each individual CRA. EX and TU sells FAKOs and EQ does offer a bonafide FICO (due to their relationship).

Thanks for clearing up my somewhat foggy reply.
Thank you. I am helping a relative. She is going to annual credit report to get all 3 & hopefully she will buy the EQUIFAX FICO, too.
Another question that I have is about TU -- she ordered their report & FICO, but they say they cannot verify her identity. She keeps getting automated answering machines. Is there someone to call to ask if they are going to AT LEAST mail the report, etc?
