I find it strange that they can't verify it's really you to issue/activate the card but they're confident it is you enough to send you a bill for the AF.
If they don't believe it's really YOU then who's gonna be paying that bill? I think I would call back & ask 'em.

With all the great competition out there - there's no point in doing business with a company like this.
I agree that there's no point in doing business with a company like that. Barclays is a mismanaged, out-of-control organization.
