I noted on my credit card statement that CreditReport.com had charged me $12.95 for SSN monitoring. First of all, i don't pay for anyone to monitor my SSN or Fico Score, etc. These things I can do myself and besides, i have a Freeze on all 3 CRAs; which is updated every 90 days'. I had contacted CreditReport regarding this monitoring service and was told, i ordered the Monitoring. Well, for lack of a better term; their lying to me. I am very anal about pulling my reports and getting my Fico almost every 3 months. I know exactly what's on my reports and since the Freeze placed on all 3 CRA, there has not been any attempts of thief on my credit. I had to contact my Credit Card Company, who stated they will reverse the charge. Besides, anyone I use on the internet are on my favorites, for which CrediReport..com is not one of them. In fact, their emails go directly to my spam file, which is exactly where the cancellation email went to this afternoon. Years ago, a friend of mines told me; "Everyone is a Racket" and believe them; these people are...
Hi! Caveat Emptor with credit monitoring sites. When I put together the Credit Monitoring Services (CMS) Guide, I noticed a large number of bait and swtich-type tactics from advertising one price, but charging another, to defining "unlimited report" pulls as "4 reports per month", or telling readers they offer FICO scores, when they certainly don't. Definitely use due diligence when using a service. BTW, creditreport.com offers scores but they aren't FICO scores...they're FAKOs.
You are absolutely correct about that! However, if you would have read the post, I did not apply for any services with CreditReport.com. No disrespect intended! Again, I do not pay anyone to monitor my CR, SSN, Fico scores, etc... Paying someone to monitor these things you can do for yourself, in my opinion is like given away good money that can go toward food, gas, bills. People need to take charge of their own financial health and stop relying on someone else to do it for it. This is called, "A fool and his money, is soon departed". That is one reason why, this country is in a financial crisis. Trusting others to do for you, what you can do for yourself. Government and monitioring services, hands off my money and my financial future! AGAIN, please read the post very carefully before replying....

llecs never once intimated that you applied for and/or paid for a CMS. He was giving sage advice to anyone and everyone out there (including you) that utmost care must be taken when considering any CMS.

Actually, to clarify, I read into your post that you unknowingly or unwittingly subscribed to (voluntarily or not) one aspect of creditreport.com's service. When putting the list together, they let you sign up to the CMS (which I did assume to knowingly subscribed to) and then you have an add-on option to get the ID theft portion of the service, which I read you didn't want or need.
Creditreport.com does have other affiliate programs. You may want to trace back your online agreements to see if you subscribed to it as a hidden plant from something else subscribed to.
Again, that is not correct. According to my CC Statement, the purchase was made on June 30, 2010. I did not use my CC for a purchase on that date or any date close to June 30, 2010. In fact, I did not use my CC during the month of June. The only thing I purchased on June 30, 2010, was my updated Fico Score on myFico.com and i used my bank card. Also, the only transaction on that date was a beauty supply store giving me credit for a item returned, which was placed back on my CC. As far as my CC company is concerned, it was fraud. I am very careful about who i purchase from on line. I ONLY use certain companies for my Fico score and myFico is it, unless myFico did the bait and switch; which I am going to assume they did not. Anyway, as far as my CC company and I am concerned; it's a closed issue and my money has been returned to me. End Of Story. I only posted this incident on how down and dirty business are these days. I was not seeking advice, solace, etc. However, thanks for your consideration in this matter ; )
