Just signed up yesterday and received an e-mail saying my info was posted to a black market website. The creation was from May of 2016. It shows my e-mail and password but the password is just a jumbled up mess. I check my credit score frequently and haven't noticed any changes that weren't related to something I did. What should I do?
It's a useless warning. Hundreds of millions of accounts get "hacked" from forums and social network sites and end up on black markets. The jumbled password is probably a hash which is useless.
The best thing to do is to not use the same password on any two sites. I usually sign up for new forums using a throwaway email address but that's a lot of work.
