BofA GW (should I do it?)

While I was in a DMP, I applied for credit and as a result, BofA removed me from the DMP and raised my minimum payment from 75 to 159 which cause the following to be reported on all 3 CRAs,

30 days late 1 time (Nov 2004)
60 days late 2 times (Jan 2005, Dec 2004)
90+ days late 7 times (Aug 2005, Jul 2005, Jun 2005, May 2005, Apr 2005, Mar 2005, Feb 2005)

I had never been late prior to that and after Aug 2005 when the account was placed back into DMP.

The account is now PIF.

I called them a month ago and they stated that since it was not an error and I did apply for new credit, they would not do anything.

My question is should a do a GW?  Could it make it worse and also what type of boost would it do for my credit scores?

Debt Management Program?
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid
