Can you help me with the following collection item ?

I have the following on my credit report:

Collection Reported 11/2006; Assigned 11/2004; Creditor Class - Medical/Health Care; Amount - $54; Status as of 11/2006 - Unpaid; Date of 1st Delinquency 07/2002; Balance as of 11/2006 - $76

This was for a $40 medical bill 07/2002. I was contacted by the Collection agency 12/2004 and paid them immediately ($59) - I have proof (credit card receipt) that they received payment 01/2005.

Shouldn't the status be different ? Is it possible to get this removed, or if not removed - the status changed and the dates changed ? It seems to have 're-aged' to 11/2006 even though it was completely paid off more than 2 years ago. Will getting the status changed improve my FICO ?

As a final note - when can I expect this to fall off my report ?

Thanks for any help in advance

Status date isn't necessarily a problem unless we're talking Experian.

Are you sure that isn't a different bill from the same time period? I only ask because it says the amount was $54.00 and the bill you paid before it grew from going into collection was $40.00.
