Certified mail provides you with Delivered or Attempted Delivery information. It's your proof of sending the mail piece.
Generally when an item is sent Certified to a P.O. Box the recipient is left a notice for the item and informed they have up to 15 days to retrieve it from the Post Office.
Most of the big companies we send mail to have P.O. Boxes for their mailings CRA, IRS, etc.
If you don't send important mail pieces Certified you will have no idea if it reached the recipient or not.
