I was added as an authorized user to my fathers commerce bank visa that is 24 yrs old, it has been almost 2 months and it hasnt shown up in my credit reports yet. Does anyone have any experience with commerce bank? I just wondered how long it should take and if I will get the age of his card on my reports?
Do you have a tool that will let you pull your reports frequently? Credit Karma is good for the specific thing you have in mind, though you should ignore its scores and advice.
How old is your oldest account -- not including this AU account?
When is the last statement date for your father's card?
On what date exactly did he add you as an AU? (Best guess if you do not know for sure.)
I am guessing you want to see how much of a boost to your FICO the AU account will give? How is your credit mix? Do you have an installment loan such as a student loan, personal loan, mortgage or auto loan on your account? I read data points that indicate three revolving credit cards and one installment loan gives the best minimal results in building a credit file and FICO score. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
I'd give it a couple more weeks. That will be 12 days after his Aug 11 statement date. If it has not appeared on either of your Karma reports by then, he can reach out to Commerce and ask them whether they have reported it and if so when.
FICO 8's anti-abuse module sometimes ignores AU accounts. Can you confirm that his account has a very low or zero balance at all times, and also has never had a late payment made to it? If both are not true, being added as an AU may do you harm rather than good.
If both are true, and FICO 8 counts the AU card, the increase to you Age of Oldest Account will help you, though not be a huge amount since you already have an AoOA of 10.
I will wait a couple weeks to see what happens, the card has no missed payments and very low balances and is 25 yrs old.
I was hoping it will help my age of accounts a little.
Going from an Age of Oldest of 10 to an Age of Oldest of 25 should give you a nice boost -- assuming that the FICO 8 anti-abuse module doesn't exclude it. (Not as sensational a boost as going from 2 to 25, but still a nice one.)
You will probably be ok. You and your father likely have the same last name with the same spelling, which may reduce the chance of the AA module flagging you.
I do have the same last name. I have a experian 669 and Trans 690, was hoping this might get me to 700!
