Confessions...of a credit geek

They say that those who are born-again into religion are the most zealous. I've noticed the same phenomenon here, with those of us who have earned our second chance with credit.

When I charge something on my credit card, I get a little thrill out of PIF'ing it just in time. It's like playing a video game. Take THAT, credit scores!

When I spend cash, I get a little thrill out of NOT using a credit card.

I stare at my credit reports the way some people look at porn.

I get excited about all those little OK symbols on my FAKO report. Look how pretty!

I desperately want to talk credit scores with people I know, even shortly after meeting them.

I feel smug and superior when I find a mistake on a report, and send a letter requesting that it be corrected, because I know I'm actually right.

I know I USED to do other stuff on the internet, I just can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Yes. I am...a credit geek.

Other symptons:

When you are with a group of poeple you offer to pay the tab saying that you havent used your PIF CC in a few months and need to exercise it a bit.

Re: Confessions...of a credit geek

I was traveling with a colleague (on United) and the prices of gas and United/Chase signature cards came up, which led to me giving a one hour lecture on gas card rebates, signature cards and CLs, rewards and Amex.  Smiley Very Happy

But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: Confessions...of a credit geek

ME TOO!!!! It's so funny!

One time, months ago, I saw a woman in line at the grocery store, pulling cc's from her wallet and considering which one to use for her purchase. At the time, I thought "ugh, she's so overwhelmed with credit that she doesn't even know which CC has enough $$ left on it to pay for her groceries... and what kind of person is so broke that they have to use a CC to buy GROCERIES??!"

Now, I look back and think that she was probably considering which one needed a little "exercise" and weighing which one would give her the most points for this purchase.. LOL

DH isn't always quite able to quantify what our score increases mean.. if I tell him, you're at a 650 NOW!!! He stares blankly and says "ok, great!" So I have to make it real for him.. "do you realize that means that you could get 2-3% lower IR on your truck??" Then his eyes light up Smiley Happy

especially if you don't say "my pay-in-full credit card", but instead actually say "PIF CC"!
