Credit Karma is better simply because of more frequent updates. They are both FAKO, so the scores should be ignored in large part. They are useful for looking at account status, that is all.
As far as the recommendations - they should read "Our odds of getting a great referral kick back if you click here".
Agreed with the above post. They are both trash but Credit Karma is less trash than Credit Sesame. In addition to Credit Karma, I also use WalletHub as it provides daily FAKO TU updates for free.
Credit Karma (CK) provides CRA information for both EQ and TU so it's better just from a convenience perspective. I use credit.com for Experian CRA summaries and EX Vantagescore comparison to EQ and TU.
CK also provides TransUnion insurance based credit scores (CBIS). It's the only place I know of where you can get a CBIS (free or paid) since LexisNexis stopped offering their CBIS early this year.

I agree with Thomas_Thumb and I also use WalletHub, CreditWise, Credit Karma and Credit.com for the VantageScore and information provided. Just take the scores with a grain of salt and understand the information given about how they got those scores...
